They will remember this pivotal moment in Judaism when the Torah was given to Moses and its acceptance by the Israelites at Mt. Sinai. A Maariv (evening) service including Havdalah (to conclude Shabbat) will be followed by Tikkun Leil Shavuot\, an evening study session. This custom\, which goes back to the sixteenth century\, will symbolically prepare them for receiving the Torah. There will be an oneg (joy) of dairy desserts following the service.
