DESCRIPTION:Musical Shabbat Service & Barbeque DinnerCongregation Shaara Tfille and The Jewish Community Center of Saratoga Springs\, located at 84 Weibel Avenue in Saratoga Springs\, will be having a Musical Shabbat on Friday\, August 19th at 7:30 p.m.  Rabbi Kenneth Blatt will conduct and perform a program that features a variety of musical styles including traditional prayer songs\, modern compositions\, cantorial pieces and melodies from the American Songbook adapted for the Jewish Sabbath.  He will be accompanied by keyboardist Michael Clement\n\nThere will be a Barbeque that begins at 6pm.  The cost is $12 for adults\, children 12 and under $5 and free for 4 and under.  RVSP by August 15th or for information\, contact the Synagogue at 584-2370.  \n\nRabbi Blatt performed as a professional singer and actor\, and has directed numerous theater productions.  However\, he found his passion in Jewish music.  He studied cantorial music with the renowned Cantor Leon Berger in Brooklyn\, NY\, continued his Judaic studies at the School of Sacred Music of Woodmere\, NY\, where he received his Cantorial Ordination.                          \n                            \nMichael Clement is an accomplished pianist and organist.  He has performed with the Tucson Symphony\, the Arizona Opera Company and Orange County\, CA Opera.  Michael is currently the Music Minister for Emmanual Baptist Church in Albany and the Pianist for the Lake George Opera Festival.  He has served as Music Director at St. Peters Presbyterian Church and Music Director of Opera Excelsior and is a Vocal Coach and Accompanist at the College of Saint Rose and Skidmore College.  Michael attended the Eastman School of Music\, the Chautauqua Institute\, University of Arizona and University of Southern California.\n\nThe Synagogue is an inclusive\, egalitarian and Conservative Congregation that holds Monday and Thursday morning services at 7:30 a.m.\, Saturday Shabbat services beginning at 9:30 a.m. In addition to regular religious program\, the Congregation offers a Hebrew School\, Adult Education programs\, ‘Live from the 92nd Street Y’ broadcast series\, Men’s Club and Sisterhood.
