Albany Comhaltas Band - 03/14/2012

Live Irish Music, Song, and Dance

Albany Comhaltas Band will be playing a program of traditional Irish dance tunes--jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas, slides, waltzes, as well as airs--on fiddle, flute, accordion, tin whistle, piano keyboard, bodhran. This program will include song and stepdance. This is the music of the Irish home, dance hall, and concert hall alike. This program is free and everyone is welcome! The Albany Comhaltas Band is the Albany Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann (A Gathering of Irish Musicians)--an organization founded on 1950, based in Dublin, Ireland. Comhaltas is cultural, non-denominational, a-political, and worldwide--meant to foster traditional Irish music and dance, song and language. The Albany branch is named after Irish composer Sean O'Riada.
