Regenerative Medicine for Horses

Dr. Axel F. Sondhof opened his Equine Medicine and Surgery Practice in 2009 after having working for 10 years at a local hospital as a staff surgeon. Dr. Sondhof’s focus is on using Regenerative Medicine for injuries involving the musculoskeletal apparatus in horses. He has been using Stem Cell therapies, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrates (BMACs) for more than 10 years in a variety of sport horses including show jumpers, driving horses, racehorses, and barrel racers. Dr. Sondhof entertains his own Regenerative Medicine laboratory and cooperates with a state-of-the-art Stem cell laboratory at The University of Maryland Virginia. Regenerative Medicine is the goal of regenerative therapies is to restore normal structural architecture and biomechanical function to an injured tissue.
