Since playing at Caffe Lena as an emerging artist in the early 1980s, adventuresome country star Suzy Bogguss rose to the top her field. Her strong, supple voice and straightforward style led her to country stardom in the ‘80s and '90s with one Platinum and two Gold albums, and hit songs such as "Aces," "Drive South," "Someday Soon," and "Outbound Plane." She won the Country Music Association's Horizon Award and Album of the Year Award, ASCAP country and pop awards, and a Grammy for Best Folk Album. Suzy saw commercial success with country, pop and even jazz albums, but her new CD and book, American Folk Songbook, puts her squarely back in our camp. This collection of traditional songs that everyone should be able to sing and play (Old Dan Tucker, Red River Valley, Shenendoah) was inspired by the joyful experience of singing along with thousands when touring with Garrison Keillor. Suzy and her trio are coming to us fresh from another Prairie Home Companion appearance and are looking forward to singing along with you in the intimate setting of Caffe Lena!
